Reignite Your Fire: A Mid-Year Motivation Check-In

Can you believe we're already almost halfway through the year? It's like the tortoise and the hare and I'm just trying to keep up! I always check-in with my New Year’s goals at month five rather than month six. I guess it’s just my way to propel myself forward. Maybe I might be just a smidge further along with that extra month of focus "before" the mid-year mark, it gives me that competitive push to get back the motivation in my goals. (The mind games we play with ourselves, lol)

So, what's a gal to do when she needs a little boost of motivation? Well, grab your favorite journal (or our free May printable) and a coffee, because we're about to dive into evaluating our goals by reflecting, refocusing and re-motivating ourselves before your mid-year check-in.

Celebrate Your Wins

Ever catch yourself playing down your accomplishments? Guilty as charged! It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget to take a moment to pat ourselves on the back. Well, my dear, journaling is here to save the day! Anytime you sit to evaluate your progress, take it as an opportunity to first always celebrate your wins, big and small.

Start by jotting down a list of all the amazing things you've achieved this year towards that goal. Maybe you learned a new skill, pushed through a tough challenge, or simply showed up for yourself every day. Whatever it is, it's worth celebrating! Trust me, seeing your accomplishments written down will make you feel like the queen (or king!) of your own self-care kingdom.

Reflect and Refocus

Ah, the mid-year check-in ahead– the perfect time to reflect on where you've been, where you ultimately want to go, and exactly where you are now. Journaling gives you a special space to dive deep and answer those thought-provoking questions. Take a moment to ask yourself:

  • What have I learned about myself so far this year?
  • Have my goals shifted or evolved? (This is a BIG one! Goals can change.)
  • Which activities or habits have brought me joy and fulfillment?
  • Are there any areas that I want to work on or improve?

As you answer these questions, don't be afraid to explore your hopes, dreams, and desires. After all, this is your journey, and you have the power to steer it in any direction you choose!

Set Intentions and Embrace Positivity

Now that you've reflected on your journey, it's time to set fresh intentions for the rest of the year. Think of these intentions as guiding stars, lighting your path toward your desired destination. As much as we can dream and the sky is the limit because we are capable of so many things, remember, to be positive but realistic. Nothing worse than setting yourself up to fail from the off. And also, it's not just always about what you want to achieve, it's about how you want to feel. Set intentions that align with your values and bring positivity into your life. For example, instead of "I want to lose weight," try "I want to feel strong, healthy, and vibrant."

As you embrace your intentions, don't forget to sprinkle yourself with daily affirmations. These often get left behind after the sparkle of our 'New year's resolutions' begins to fade in our daily grind. Write down empowering statements like "I am capable of great things," "I radiate love and joy," or even just "I am enough."(That is my go to most days, feel free to steal it, because it always rings true.) Trust me, these little doses of inspiration will keep you shining brightly, even on the gloomiest of days.

Take Action

Now that your journal is overflowing with dreams, reflections, and intentions, it's time to put your plans into action! Use what you have just journaled as a roadmap, set those smaller, achievable goals that will lead you toward your bigger dreams. Break them down into bite-sized steps and track your progress along the way.

Remember, setbacks and detours are a natural part of any journey. If you stumble or take a wrong turn, don't beat yourself up. Dust off those boots and get right back on track. Journaling is your secret weapon for staying committed and motivated.
